KEY OUTPUTS
- Provides unit management support by maintaining quality management, performance management and people management practices.
- Delivers comprehensive and quality patient care.
- Adheres to Patient’s Rights at all times.
- Staff allocations and duty Roster.
- Prevents, reports and manages Medico-legal risks.
- Patient records and registers meet legal requirements.
- Control of stock and equipment.
- Identifies and addresses continuous professional development (CPD) needs.
- Provides support to new employees and learners.
- Liaise with Hospital Manager to ensure a therapeutic and safe patient environment by maintaining health and safety standards, complies with infection prevention protocols.
- Maintains the principles of Quality client care principles.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current registration with SANC as a Registered/Professional Nurse.
- A post graduate qualification or minimum of 5 years experience in operating room.
- Prior scrubbing experience.
- A qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science will be an advantage.
- Willingness to work shifts in accordance with the requirements of the Hospital.
- Must have experience as a shift leader in an operating room.
- Good planning and organizing skills that contribute to meeting objectives.
- The ability to display good judgement in problem-solving.
- Sound knowledge and application of relevant Theatre and CSSD policies and procedures.
- Management of surgical equipment and instruments.
- Competent in the demonstration and assessment of all clinical procedures and management of risks.
- Basic knowledge of stock control principles.
- A good understanding and application of the nursing scope of practice and knowledge of patient care.
- Maintains respectful work relationships and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Displays a concern for excellence in achieving results.
- Maintains a customer-focused mind-set that acknowledges the value of the customer.
- Exhibits full responsibility for own work outputs.
