Dr Pieter de Bruyn, originally from Cape Town, relocated back to the Mother City with his family last year after being in practice at Netcare Sunward Park Hospital for seven years as a General Surgeon.
Dr de Bruyn completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Stellenbosch in 1991. This was followed by an internship at Tygerberg Hospital which opened him up to the intricacies of medicine as well as the diversity thereof. Prior to becoming a General Surgeon, Dr de Bruyn practiced as a General Practitioner for five years which allowed him the opportunity to develop and focus on his interest in surgery.
Dr de Bruyn completed his post-graduate training at Grootte Schuur Hospital where he was a Registrar for five years. To further master his interest in General Surgery, Dr de Bruyn spent 24 months working as a Senior Specialist in the Gastrointestinal Unit (GIT) at Universitas Hospital and the University of Free State after which he started in private practice as a General and Trauma Surgeon at Life Hospital in Bloemfontein. Dr de Bruyn continues practicing as a private practice surgeon and has a deep interest in GIT which he aims to pursue and expand.
