Corporate Social Responsibility
Cure Day Hospitals are deeply committed to supporting the communities in which we operate. Our dedication to making a positive impact is evident through our various CSI initiatives and charitable endeavours throughout the Group. We continue to strive towards making a lasting and meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and our communities.
Nelson Mandela Day
Cure Day Hospitals East London stays true to our value of Compassion each Nelson Mandela Day by supporting local schools and charities with necessary items that they require. We are passionate about making a meaningful and positive impact on the community around us, who sadly, come from underprivileged backgrounds.
During Nelson Mandela month in 2023, Cure Day Hospitals East London sponsored 86 packets of pads and 86 roll-ons to Daily Bread Youth and Child Centre. Cure Day Hospitals believes that it is important for these children to have access to basic hygiene items that are necessary to help them thrive and grow into confident young adults.
In 2024, Cure Day Hospitals East London has made it a priority to address one of the challenges children face in rural areas- the lack of proper footwear. Cure Day Hospitals East London will therefore be donating a 100 pairs of school shoes to the children at Floradale Primary School in Nompumelelo. The hospital team will also be collecting items such as non-perishable foods, toiletries, stationary, toys and clothing for the Helping Those in Need Foundation. These items will be handed out at the end of July to ensure we collect as many items as possible.
Right to Sight 2023
Cure Day Hospitals East London sponsored 11 transformative cataract surgeries as part of our Corporate Social Investment projects during Eye Awareness month. The realisation of this impactful initiative was made possible through the invaluable support and collaboration of the OSSA Right to Sight Trust, Dr Sam Mbelwa (Ophthalmologist), Dr Bernard de Boer (Ophthalmologist), Dr Florence Antwi (Ophthalmologist), Dr Clive Wesson (Anaesthetist), Dr Andrew Mugerwa (Anaesthetist), Dr Andre Evans, PathCare, Genop, Zeiss, Envision, Coffiks and our exceptional staff members.
African Synergy Health and the Department of Health 2024
Cure Day Hospitals East London recognises the importance of collaboration and took part in a Urology Outreach during a Mandela Week Surgical Marathon, curated by African Synergy Health and Dr Jeff John (Head of Urology at Frere Hospital). We were so grateful to be given the opportunity and, in the end, we assisted 17 patients. We were lucky enough to receive support and sponsorships from Boston Scientific, Ariste Health, Spur Wykato and Coffiks.
African Synergy Health is an organisation whose main purpose is to assist public hospitals with the backlog of patients waiting for surgery. They achieve this by partnering with Hospitals, Surgeons and Medical companies to provide all of the necessary items to achieve this goal. As a collaborative effort, East London assisted 93 patients with surgery.
