Cure Day Hospitals is proud to support The Sleep Fairy Project with a donation of 200 fleece blankets to children undergoing surgery at Tygerberg Hospital in the Western Cape.
This pilot initiative aims to reduce anxiety and emotional distress among paediatric patients in public hospitals. Research shows that children who are less anxious before surgery experience less pain, fewer behavioural issues post-operatively, and a lower risk of post-traumatic stress.
With 75–100 children receiving surgery each month at Tygerberg Hospital, we hope these blankets bring not only warmth, but also a sense of comfort and security during a difficult time.
