Plastic Surgeon
Dr G De Aguiar is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon whose career allowed him to visit plastic, cosmetic surgery and burn units across the globe, spanning the Americas, Europe and Australasia, ensuring comprehensive state of the art plastic surgery and best practice for all his patients. He graduated from Wits in 1983 obtaining his BSC degree in medical physiology and biochemistry. He was awarded the Gencor Prize for Highest overall aggregate in the fifth year of medical training and the Kurt Gillis Award for Psychiatry for the most distinguished all-round graduate.
In 1986 he graduated MBBCh (cum laude, with distinction) and was awarded the Paddy Pearlman Scholarship for academic excellence. He held the Senior House Officer position in 1988 at the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery at Wits University and served as a Registrar in head, neck and breast surgery in 1989 at Tygerberg Hospital. He was awarded the David Lurie Research Scholarship in 1992 and the 3M/Ethicon Award in 1993.
Doctor De Aguiar Graduated Fellowship of the College of Surgeons of South Africa in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery in 1994.
He entered Private Practice in 1997 and became a certified advanced trainer for Botox in 1999. He enjoys an active academic and research career and is continually involved with numerous research projects with several local and international publications. In 2005 he obtained his Master of Medicine Degree (Plastic Surgery).
As a Plastic Surgeon his interests include the full spectrum of aesthetic plastic surgery with emphasis on body contouring, breast and facial plastics. His practice is devoted to general and reconstructive surgery, including aesthetic and non-surgical aesthetic treatments such as Botox, dermal fillers, thread lifts and facial rejuvenation. In addition, he also offers a wide range of reconstructive procedures including general plastic surgery, hand, microsurgery, burns and plastic surgery trauma.
Doctor De Aguiar enjoys artistic pursuits including photography and oil-painting.
