Facial Aging / Facelift

Written by Kevin Millar

You never stop being young on the inside but with time, ageing occurs on the outside.  The skin of the face loses its elasticity, there is a loss of fat volume and some bone resorption.  This causes deepening of the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jowling and excess skin on the neck “its just my neck doctor”.

The MAC’s lift (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension-lift) is a technique for re-juvenating the face.  This form of facelift is less aggressive and as a result the bruising and swelling are much reduced.  The recovery time is quicker, and the patient can go home on the same day. The procedure can be done under local anaesthesia; with light sedation or general anaesthesia.

Sutures are removed in two stages:  After 5 days and the rest after 10 days.  Recovery time is between one and two weeks at most.
