Latest cutting-edge Brachytherapy equipment now available at Newmarket Day Hospital

By offering advanced medical technology, together with our experienced medical professionals team,  Newmarket Day Hospital is able to deliver exceptional care to our patients.

We are proud to share that Newmarket Day Hospital is now able to expand our services in Urology with new Brachytherapy equipment.  We already successfully completed our first Brachytherapy procedure, which was performed by Dr J Baladakis, Specialist Urologist and Dr S Rodrigues, Oncologist.

What is Brachytherapy?

Brachytherapy is an advanced and effective treatment for management of prostate cancer.
This form of radiation therapy involves the placement of tiny radioactive seeds directly into the prostate gland.  The seeds emit a low level of radiation, gradually decaying over several months, and remaining permanently in place.

Brachytherapy seed implantation is an excellent treatment option for localized prostate cancer offering a targeted minimally invasive approach, with manageable side effects and favourable recovery time.
