Dr Gavin O’Brien is a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 20 years of experience in orthopaedic surgery. He completed his medical degree at Wits University and pursued his subsequent training. During his training he developed a keen interest in orthopaedics with a special interest in feet and ankles as well as sports injuries to feet and ankles, knees, shoulders, and trauma which has guided him in his clinical practice and research endeavours.
Dr O’Brien’s approach to medicine emphasizes a patient-centred philosophy, ensuring that each individual receives comprehensive and compassionate care tailored to their unique needs. He believes in the importance of staying current with medical advancements and continuously seek opportunities for professional development by attending conferences, participating in research, and engaging in peer collaboration. In addition to his clinical work, he is dedicated to community outreaches and education drives.
