WELCOME Dr Erhardt D Kidson

Dr Kidson completed his undergraduate studies in medicine 1995 at the University of Stellenbosch.
Post internship at Port Elizabeth Provincial Hospital (1996) he voluntarily joined 7Med Battalion Group (1997) at Voortrekkerhoogte, Pretoria. Post military training he joined Norwegian Cruise lines as a ships doctor.
After traveling the oceans, he pursued his surgical interest in ophthalmology awakened by his uncle Dr Hubrecht Brody, a doyen in surgical ophthalmology in Cape Town.
In order to complete his studies, he held various ophthalmic positions in the public sector including Frere Hospital East London, Witbank Hospital and a registrar position in University College Hospital in Galway Ireland. At the time he completed the DIP OPHTH (SA) with distinction for which he was awarded the Dr Geoff Howes medal in 2001.
Subsequently he completed his specialist training at Groote Schuur Hospital Cape Town and became a fellow of the College of Ophthalmology of South Africa in 2007 (FC OPHTH (SA).
In 2008 Dr Kidson joined the private practice established in Upington by Dr Bingham. Dr Kidson has a special interest in cataract and refractive surgery, glaucoma, diabetes and general ophthalmology.
He is the founding member of the Kalahari Cataract, Eye & Day Theatre in Upington. He has been privileged to see the private practice grow into a center of excellence with a team of super specialized ophthalmologists jointly managing the patient load and providing individualized patient care.
As an extension of patient care he now joined the team of ophthalmologists at Somerset Eye.
