Dr Thariq Bagus began his Ophthalmology career at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2014. During his residency he received multiple awards from the Wits school of Clinical Medicine and the South African Glaucoma Society. In 2019 he was also honoured with the Elie Dahan Ophthalmology Registrar of the year award.
He is a fellowship trained Cataract and Refractive surgeon (World College of Refractive Surgery and Visual Sciences) and a Physician CEO (Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Chicago)
His strong sense of social responsibility has taken him on many community outreach missions and he continues to participate in cataract camps in partnership with organizations such as the Tshemba Foundation, the Islamic Medical Association and the Bureau for the prevention of blindness. He is also a consultant surgeon to Keratoconus Foundation where he delivers a cornea transplant service and mentors young surgeons.
