Meet Prof Lisa Kaestner – Urogynaecologist at Cure Day Hospital Foreshore
Prof Kaestner is a highly skilled specialist urological surgeon with expertise in minimally invasive urological surgery, endoscopic surgery, reconstructive urology, and urogynaecological procedures.
After completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Stellenbosch, she pursued postgraduate training at the University of Cape Town, where she also earned her PhD in 2022, focusing on renal stone disease in the Western Cape.
From 2010 to 2024, she led the Reconstructive Urology and Renal Stone unit at Groote Schuur Hospital and served as Academic Programme Director in the Division of Urology at UCT from 2020 to 2024.
In 2022, Dr. Kaestner made history as the first female professor of Urology in South Africa. She continues to shape the future of the field as a regular examiner for the College of Urology and currently serves as the Secretary of the College of Urology of South Africa.
